about BackBone Research...
From client demands to unfolding news events, things happen fast. From a PR perspective, there is often very little time to game plan and form an adequate response. The idea behind BackBone Research is to inject a greater degree of preparation at the outset. Instead of simply reacting to events or emergencies, the intent is to enable PR pros to intelligently plan ahead and respond quickly. What does that all mean? It means putting research, in terms of the full spectrum of the PR process, first. Whether you are in need of a well-researched media list, an editorial calendar list that focuses on the most pertinent items in the most important publications, or a detailed media industry audit of your company/client and its closest competitors, I am here to make it happen.
Matthew Griffes — Founder, Sole-Proprietor
For more than seven years, I've been working with a variety of companies and PR firms that span the business technology, Internet, and consumer industries (clients). In that time, I've learned a great deal about PR and media — the positives and the negatives. Besides the fact that I dig working for myself and being my own boss, I am interested in making PR function better. It may be too much to ask, but I don't see myself backing down any time soon.
