Site Design

Code

The site is designed in HTML and CSS. While I used Dreamweaver's editor as a framework, I hand coded the entire Web site from scratch.

Design

All of the graphical elements were created from scratch in Photoshop.

The Logo...

remains a work in progress. I am currently working on creating a look-and-feel that is a more polished and less literal representation of BackBone's identity.

Layout

The tabbed folder design on the index page is the focus of the site. The emphasis is on a clean, attractive layout that readily lends itself to quickly accessing basic information about BackBone Research.

What's Next?

I am interested in adding variety of components and all are aimed at increasing the manner in which users may interact with the site.

Enhancing the UI

The tabbed folder portion requires a separate page for each snapshot item (Profile, Products and Services). I am currently in the process of exploring how I can use JavaScript and/or other coding techniques/languages to create a UI where everything remains on one page (Index) and is hidden until a mouse click event.

Blog and Resources

I am in the process of constructing both the blog and resources portions of the site. This will be an ongoing process, but will begin with authoring posts and evolve over time as past content needs to be archived.

E-Commerce

In the near future, I will be adding an e-commerce function to support the sale of various documents. I am in the early stages of considering the development and subsequent installation of an e-commerce platform.
